S.H.A.R.E. provides the necessary tools, seed, and fertilizers to peasant farmers so they can produce food and hopefully an income to break the poverty cycle.
Having access to water when needed for crops can be challenging. With funds from S.H.A.R.E. and training from our local partner, irrigation reservoirs are created for a group of farmers. With access to water when needed, crops can be grown successfully and in many cases grown throughout all seasons.
The addition of piping distributes the water to where it is needed.
Raised seed beds help to control soil erosion. Soil erosion is a gradual process that occurs when the impact of water or wind detaches and removes soil particles, causing the soil to deteriorate. Soil deterioration and low water quality due to erosion and surface runoff have become severe problems worldwide. Proper training in Ecologically sound farming practices helps to ensure ongoing success.
